🧰 What's a Website Handoff & How To Do It Right

A website handoff is the final stage of working on a site, when the designer transfers the finished product to the client. It's an equally important step for both parties.

Why It's Important
• For the designer:
It protects your work from being misunderstood, misused, or broken, and helps avoid being contacted for fixes or files long after the project is done.

• For the client:
It makes managing the website easy and stress-free. With all the crucial info at hand, they won't need to rely on outside help for every small update.

What a Proper Handoff Includes:

🔑 Access to Everything
Make sure to securely share login credentials for:
– The website platform (CMS)
– Domain registrar
– Any connected third-party tools (e.g., Google Analytics, CRM, mailing platforms, etc.)

💾 Final Design Files & Assets
Include all essential files, such as:
– Figma or Sketch mockups
– SVGs, icons, banners, illustrations
– Any custom code, animations, or videos created or used in the project

📄 Style Guide & Branding Info
Provide a simple brand manual that covers:
– Fonts and font sizes
– Color palette (with HEX/RGB codes)
– Basic layout or spacing rules (if applicable)

📚 Instructions & Training
Especially useful if your client is new to managing websites or using the platform you built it on.
